Pickled Beets - just like Mom used to make! Margie also planted the cylindrical beets - easy to slice and put in the jars. This is her recipe. Thanks Mom!
Pickled Beets
1. Wash beets and place in a large pot. Cover with water and cook until tender.
2. Cool until able to handle and peel - the skins slip right off!
3. Cut into pieces and place in hot sterilized jars.
4. Cover with hot brine.
5. Seal jars with hot sterilized lids.
Brine:
Bring to boil:
8 cups sugar
8 cups vinegar
2 cups water
In spice bag: 2 tbsp. each whole cloves, pickling spice and cinnamon
